RASHIDA DUNGARWALLA

(she/her)

Psychologist + Founder

A life-long curiosity and love for psychology, philosophy and anthropology, led Rashida down a path of living, studying and working all over the world within the realm of Psychology.

Rashida has lived whilst practicing or studying Psychology in Australia, Toronto, England and Kenya over a 10+ year period.

Rashida completed a Bachelor of Psychology with thesis (honours), continued by a Masters in Psychotherapy and Counselling. She then completed a 2 year supervised internship gaining Registration with AHPRA and is a proud member of the Australian Association of Psychologists Inc (AAPi). Rashida is currently working towards becoming a Board Approved Supervisor.

Rashida has worked in a variety of settings including private psychiatric hospitals, group and solo private practice, NGO’s, workers compensation, The Department of Veterans Affairs and the public sector which has resulted in an understanding of the mental health care systems nationally and internationally and how this may impact one’s mental health journey.

With a passion for working holistically and collaboratively with her clients, she aims to support you in learning how to navigate through the full spectrum of emotions, tolerate distress and make sense of your struggles. Whilst she is trained, she believes her clients are the experts on their inner world and views her position as helping to ‘lift the veil’ on the unconscious patterns of behaviour that can repeat throughout our lives.

She has been praised for her warm, kind and empathetic nature, as well as her straightforward, no BS approach. Rashida aims to hold hope when it’s difficult to find, guide clients to feel empowered and take action whilst remaining their biggest cheerleader. She also believes in creating space in session for lightness and humour which can be one of our biggest allies in hardship.

Using evidence-based modalities, practicing from an intersectional and interdisciplinary framework with a focus on a psychodynamic, person centred, relational lens as well as utilising somatic based strategies.

In addition to private practice, Rashida hoped to create a space in which complex mental health/illness education can be shared in a creative and easy to digest way hence leading to workshop and mental health education offerings.

On a personal note, Rashida is a lover of nature, art, interiors, chai, live music, dancing and sleep.
